Soft Tech Consulting is seeking a highly motivated, self-directed individual to fill the role of a Project Manager. The selected individual will support the client in the IT Telecommunication Infrastructure Service Area with responsibility for the planning, management, and oversight of major IT projects. The chosen candidate will also be in a position to foster a strong relationship with the client.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as senior Project Manager within the IT Telecommunication Infrastructure Service Area with responsibility for the planning, management, and oversight of major IT projects involving the development and implementation of IT Telecommunication Cabling Infrastructure to support Network (Wired and Wireless Connection), Unified Communication & Collaboration, Cellular Repeater System (DAS) and Cable Television System (CATV).
  • Ensure Telecommunication Infrastructure projects are integrated within the overall program IT requirements, schedule, budget, and reporting mechanisms; and meet high government IT quality standards.
  • Serve as the liaison, collaborate with government and contractor teams to coordinate the project activities and provide IT subject matter expertise in multiple IT projects following industry standards, government guidance and policy directions.
  • Monitor project activities for achieving agreed-upon milestones, verifying and validating cost projections, meeting user requirements, and delivering projected benefits.
  • Coordinate the process for prioritizing system requirements, creating business cases and project plans, and providing meeting support and facilitation for project teams and functional implementation teams.
  • Work with the government and other specialists to review various types of contracts and manage the procurement process for CIT projects.
  • Develop and support a common repository so that prior project management deliverables can be candidates for reuse by similar projects, further reducing project start-up time.
  • Establish and deploy a common set of project management processes and templates using Microsoft Office tools Excel, Outlook, Word and other software tools to create Gant charts.
  • Maintain expert knowledge and practical use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Review and interpret network diagrams and CAD cable infrastructure drawings to assimilate project information.
  • Facilitate improved project team communications by having common process, deliverables and terminologies.
  • Provide leadership and planning strategy with the Government representatives and other Contractor staff as they coordinate functions and responsibilities within the Facilities and Infrastructure Services, across the NIH Institutes and Centers.
  • Track and document status of all projects in the organization and provide project visibility to Government management in a common and consistent manner.
Qualifications
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects of varying scope and complexity in an IT environment that includes networking, telecommunications or cabling.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to review and comprehend Service Level Agreements and requirements documents.
  • Ability to analyze the performance of IT service using metric analysis tools.
  • Experience interfacing with customers to gather and accurately interpret IT requirements.
  • Experience delivering project management automated solutions to customers.
  • Working knowledge of information technology terminologies.
  • Excellent team building skills.
  • Excellent writing and documentation skills as it applies to the following:
    • Experience developing and using Work Breakdown Structures and Work Packages.
    • Familiarity with integrated project schedules and critical path management.
    • Familiarity with the development and use of System Development Life Cycle management methodologies.
    • Experience in telecommunications technologies, terms, and design concepts.
  • Requires attention to detail and excellent problem-solving, team building, communication and writing skills.
  • PMP certified is a plus.
