1 plus years of experience doing blood draws required
Strong processing experience required
Certification as a Phlebotomist required
Labeling specimens
Centrifuging specimens
Recording maintenance data
Decontamination
Updating patient information
Collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures
Properly explaining venipuncture and other specimen collection processes
Demonstrating techniques using straight and/or butterfly needles
Understanding physicians' orders
Matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes
Labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as required
Checking test requisitions or computer labels against scripts
Packaging specimens for transport
Storing specimen samples according to required temperature
Understanding and complying with OSHA and DEP regulations
Answering telephone calls and reading laboratory results
