We currently serve the mid-Atlantic region with products lines that include storm water, sanitary, box culverts, ridged frame culverts, pump stations, water meter vaults, electrical and telecom manholes, as well as specialized custom designed structures. We are currently seeking a Structural Engineer EIT to join our growing team. This is not a remote position.Position Summary:As the Structural Engineer EIT, you will be responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments to assist our Engineering Manager.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:o Utilize software for structural analysis and design calculations for precast concrete vaults, box culverts, retaining walls, custom design structures, and ancillary structures to ensure structural integrity and efficiency.o Analyze and interpret contract drawings or plans, as well as submittal and production drawings.o Prior to bidding and/or submittals, review all custom projects with the sales team for design and cost efficiencies respective to production.o Perform pre-bid, preliminary designs for box culverts, walls, and unique structures to assist the sales team in submitting the most competitive project bids.o Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for project submittal packages and create production drawings once submittals have been approved.o Manage production and submittal drawings for all stock/standard items/products.

Review designs and drawings performed by outside engineering firms.

Write letters and/or provide technical assistance to customers as needed for job specific issues.

Work with the operations team and steel fabrication team to design custom formwork when needed.

o Meet with the operations team and plant managers as needed to discuss design and production drawing related questions.o Maintain a working knowledge of plant operations, as this plays a major role in developing the most efficient designs.o Stay up to date on precast industry standards and innovations.Required Experience and Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in civil engineering or a related field from ABET accredited engineering program.

Engineer-in-Training Certification or the ability to obtain the certification. Candidates hired without a current certification will have the title of Designer and will be expected to obtain their EIT within 12 months.

Knowledge of basic structural principles for steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete structures.

Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Experience utilizing software programs for general structural analysis.

Experience with or willingness to learn MathCAD and AutoCAD.

Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet customer deadlines.

Preferred / Desired Experience and Qualifications:

Previous experience with reinforced concrete design or structural steel design is a plus. Additionally, any previous experience with precast concrete is a plus.

Reliable transportation for occasional commute to other Gillespie offices or production facil ties, customers offices or jobsites, and any additional work-related meetings or events as required.

Ability and willingness to become licensed in Maryland and surrounding states.

Working Conditions:This work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking.Field work is required on occasions where work may be conducted within our manufacturing production facilities or at jobsites in potentially adverse weather conditions such as heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.Job Type: Full-timeBenefits:
