Unity Church Hill Nursery, located on the Maryland's Eastern Shore, is a retail nursery operation with a focus on providing sustainable products, native plants and, for the past three years, small scale food production. In addition to the retail nursery, our 44 acre farm is the base of our sister company Unity Landscape Design/Build and home to many dynamic projects including demonstration gardens featuring ecologically friendly and functional outdoor living spaces and about 1.5 acres of food production gardens exploring and integrating innovative techniques to improve soil health and produce nutrient dense food to serve our local, direct retail market through a farm stand and farmers' market and wholesale market of local grocers and restaurants.
The farm assistant will be involved in all aspects of our farm including food production, demonstration gardens, native plant production, marketing and sales. Opportunities to learn and be involved with composting, minimal-till bed preparation, hugelkultur, transplant production, propagation, planting, cultivation, pest management, natural beekeeping, harvesting, marketing, sales, events and activities at the farm. They may also assist with grounds maintenance and nursery operations.

Our goal is working efficiently with attention to detail while keeping things enjoyable, educational, and meaningful.
Qualifications: Minimal 1 year of valid small-scale food production experience, strong recordkeeping skills, strong multi-tasking skills, detail-oriented, valid and clean driver's license, ability to lift 50 lbs, to load in vehicles, do strenuous work outdoors in all weather, ability to operate equipment such as tractors and skid steers, strong communication skills.
Job Type: Full-time. March -December with potential to continue year-round.
Compensation (minimum $10.50/hr) will be based on experience and length of commitment.
