The Office of the CSO works closely with leaders across the company to develop and implement scientific strategies that drive innovation, growth, and competitive advantage. It is responsible for promoting scientific excellence, innovation, and strategic direction within Thermo Fisher Scientific, while also encouraging collaborations and ensuring Thermo Fisher Scientific remains at the forefront of scientific advancements.The Program Manager III, Corporate Innovation and Strategic Projects, will be based in the Office of the CSO and Corporate R&D organization, and will report to the Director External Innovations and Partnerships. The role will be based in Frederick, MD.How will you make an impact:The successful candidate will be responsible for helping drive cross-divisional and company-wide pivotal initiatives implemented through the Office of the CSO. The ideal candidate will apply technical and analytical skills to find opportunities for both internal and external collaboration that will enhance Thermo Fisher Scientific’s position in its core market segments. The Program Manager III will work closely with colleagues across Thermo Fisher Scientific to build sustainable networks that facilitate collaborative value creation spanning multiple businesses.What you will do:
Support company-wide innovation initiatives, from ideation to implementation. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to set project goals and timelines to ensure successful execution.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market dynamics, and competitors' activities. Conduct research and analysis to identify potential market gaps, customer needs, and emerging opportunities for innovation.
Contribute to execution of a clear and comprehensive innovation strategy aligned with the organization's goals and objectives. Identify new opportunities, trends, and technologies that could drive innovation and business growth.
Work closely with the Thermo Fisher Scientific R&D function to gather insights, align strategies, and ensure the successful integration of innovation efforts across the organization.
Establish and maintain relationships with external partners, including universities, research institutions, startups, and industry experts. Collaborate on joint research projects, technology transfers, or other initiatives that can accelerate innovation.
Continuously research and evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in innovation management. Share knowledge and insights with the organization to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
How you will get here:
Advanced academic degree (PhD, DPhil) in the life sciences
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Excellent critical thinking, project management, analytical, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills
High level of intellectual curiosity and interpersonal skills, with strong decision-making ability
Highly self-motivated and capable of managing and prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to influence across a sophisticated matrix organization
Ability to present both technical and non-technical information to multiple levels of leaders in a professional manner that is both easy to understand and consume
