This is not an application for a specific opening – You are opting into a Talent Community and letting Trane know you are interested in a Technician position at one of Life Science Solutions locations listed belowThe Field Service Refrigeration Technician is responsible for the performance of service, repair, installation, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on all types of laboratory equipment at the customer site of in the repair shop for the Life Science Solutions Diversified Laboratory Repair (DLR) team.You'll enjoy independent work days and will solve routine operational problems without guidance, referring unusual problems to other technicians or supervisor.We are always in search of talented Service Technicians to join our Life Science Solutions Team and we have positions that become available in many locations across the area throughout the year.This role will be performed is onsite, and available in multiple locations:
Gaithersburg, Maryland
Benicia, California
Responsibilities:
The work is performed under the general direction of the Service Manager.
Hands on knowledge of refrigeration and electronics.
Performance of service, installation, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on all types of laboratory equipment.
Technicians are expected to be able to test components, check for leaks, operate and read gauges, read wiring diagrams, diagnose electrical and mechanical defects, reclaim refrigerant and perform mechanical repairs.
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance.
Calibrate process controllers.
Diagnose and correct cooling issues.
Keep accurate and neat maintenance records.
Work from engineering drawings for brazing and assembly of prototype refrigerated products.
Complete paperwork
Explain/describe services provided.
Mark hours worked on each job accurately.
Be prepared with appropriate completed service tickets, additional blank service tickets, and ticket book.
Maintain an organized replacement parts inventory in service vehicle.
Additional Requirements:
Normal working hours are 8:00 – 4:30; however, OT is occasionally required.
DLR performs work at secure government facilities that require a background check prior to admission to their campus.
Journeyman license preferred.
Valid driver’s license.
Universal EPA Certification.
Strong analytic ability.
Attention to detail.
Ability to work independently.
Must have demonstrated electrical and control troubleshooting experience.
Willingness to participate in the emergency on-call rotation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must undergo a government background check.
Ability to interpret electrical and refrigeration schematics.
Excellent English communication skills, verbal and written (good spelling and grammar), and ability to interface professionally with customers.
Ultra-low refrigeration experience a plus.
