Description: Perform a wide variety of utility duties on flight field and hangar areas to service aircraft, gas trucks, and other equipment, and keep areas orderly. Follow detailed instructions and prescribed procedures to perform utility duties. Service helicopters with gas, oil and auxiliary power. Operate, service and insure maintenance of a fleet of gas trucks, oil bowsers, auxiliary power units, grease carts, and other equipment used on flight field or hangar, making sure that they are filled and operating properly at all times. Detect and report any discrepancies that occur on service vehicles and equipment. Perform other general utility duties such as operating fork lift to stack and load sand bags, moving helicopters and equipment about hangar and flight area, cleaning interior and exterior of helicopter, etc., as directed. Maintain necessary records of gas and oil dispensed and maintenance of service vehicles, etc. Keep flight and hanger areas clean and orderly, placing fire bottles, chocks, sand bags, stands, and tracking flags in place, etc. Refer any questionable or unusual conditions to Crew Chief or foreman.Basic Qualifications:Duties require knowledge of reading, writing, and simple arithmetic.Also requires ability to follow oral and written instructions, take reading from gas meters, etc., enter date on records, and use simple tools such as hammer, wrenches, etc.Up to 3 months of experience is required.Additional Information:Work will be performed at the customer's facility in Pax River, MD and is dependent upon the CH-53K helicopter test program. The program began operations in Pax River in Q2 2017 and is planned to end in August 2023.While working at Pax River, Sikorsky employees must follow operating procedures as established by the customer which include:- Must be a US Citizen Only- Must currently have and/or be capable of obtaining a security clearance.- Must currently have or be capable of successfully completing an NCIC criminal background check to access Pax NAS.- Must have a valid photo ID (driver's license + social security card or birth certificate OR US passport).- Must have valid driver's license/vehicle insurance (Not expired) to drive on base at Pax NAS.- In addition to the standard Sikorsky personal protective equipment (PPE), all maintenance personnel must be able to wear steel toe safety shoes and wear long pants. Additionally, cranials must be worn outside while working above four feet.- Will be required to operate Fork Lift, so they must pass a DOT physical. Job duties shall include Preventative Maintenance and repairs for Support Equipment and Tooling.
