The Collections Department is the team that identifies delinquencies and works with our customers to resolve payment issues. As a key member of our team, you will manage the day-to-day activities of the Collections Department, identifying opportunities to improve processes & collections. You will be responsible for maintaining strong control of the environment, monitoring and managing AR aging & DSO, including reporting & analytics. You will also assist in contacting delinquent franchisees to discuss reasons and solutions for non-payment, as well as escalations of issues from collectors.The Accounts Receivable/Collections Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the timely collection of payments from customers while maintaining strong business relationships. Lead and motivate team, providing coaching, feedback and supervision as needed.

Develop and implement strategies to optimize collections efficiency and effectiveness. Continuously evaluate and improve collections systems and processes.

Effectively partner with other operational areas in the company (e.g. legal, franchise operations, billing, credit, revenue management, finance) relating to collection inquiries and reporting.

Responsible for Defaults, Terminations and write off of Bad Debt Expense.

Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reporting for the department. Communicate with Finance leadership on any accounts or areas requiring escalation.

Reconcile disputed accounts and handle customer complaints for the large, or multi property licensees.

Exhibit flexibility and willingness to take on new responsibilities and assignments as they are identified and to assist with various ad hoc projects based on company needs.

Responsible for oversight, hiring, training and performance assessment of collections department. Develop, implement and monitor collections policies and procedures.

Responsible for maintaining low DSO.

Your Experience, Skills & Competencies

Bachelor’s degree required.

Must have credit and collections background.

Minimum of four years supervisory experience.

Good conflict resolution and negotiation skills.

Communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word; with advanced skills in Excel.

Strong ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.

Your Team This is a leadership role that will report to the Director, Invoice to Cash. You will have 6 reports and collaborate with cross-functional departments on a regular basis.Your Work LocationAs our Accounts Receivable/Collections Manager​, you will be based in our beautiful, state-of-the-art worldwide corporate headquarters in North Bethesda, MD. Less than 15 miles from Washington, DC, we’re located one block away from the North Bethesda Metro station, with service on the Red Line and the MARC Brunswick line, easy access to I-270, and plenty of free parking provided by Choice Hotels.Salary RangeThe salary range for this position is $90,000 to $95,000 annually. In addition to the annual salary, this role is eligible for an annual bonus based on the terms of Choice's Management Incentive Plan (MIP).The pay range listed is for this position and is what Choice Hotels reasonably expects to pay. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.
