Role Description
This is a full-time, on the road position for a Heating Air Conditioning Service Technician at H and J Heating & Air Conditioning located in White Plains, MD. The position does require overtime as deemed necessary.
The Service Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, ductwork and heating and air conditioning systems. The Service Technician will diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, monitor and manipulate refrigerate system, and perform tests to ensure that the systems are working properly. The appropriate candidate will be self-directed and be able to communicate independently with homeowners and staff.
What Will I Do?
Maintain communication with dispatch, your manager, and the parts department.
Keep your truck inventory up to date.
Maintain a positive attitude and be able to work well with team members.
Ability to retrieve and document service call information in dispatch application.
Maintain a clean and professional appearance.
Participate and keep an open mind to training so that you grow and develop as a professional.
Held responsible for operation and usage of company truck.
Educate your clients on their systems and maintenance requirements.
Identify opportunities for clients to improve their home comfort systems through product overview.
Complete all tasks in accordance with quality and safety standards.
Qualifications
Minimum of three years of experience in HVAC installation, maintenance, diagnosis and repair
Knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems, including electrical and mechanical components, refrigeration principles and function, and refrigerant handling
Experience with low voltage and mini-split systems
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams. Reading blueprints is a great advantage.
Attention to detail for maintaining service records, tracking parts and project management.
Strong customer service and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical issues in non-technical terms.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Higher degree in HVAC or EPA certification (preferred)
Disposition to expand knowledge of HVAC industry and personal technical ability
Organization skills to maintenance truck inventory, coordinate parts with a particular job and logistically manage service call order.
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and reliable transportation
EPA Universal certification preferred.
