Truck Technician/Mechanic

Job Title: Truck Technician

Job Summary: As a truck technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining trucks, trailers, and other heavy vehicles. You will perform routine maintenance tasks, identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues, and make necessary repairs to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Diagnosis and Repair:

Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.

Perform inspections to assess the condition of engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and other components.

Repair or replace faulty parts, components, and systems as needed.

Conduct preventive maintenance to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal vehicle performance.

2. Maintenance:

Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication of moving parts.

Inspect and maintain brake systems, suspension components, tires, and wheel alignments.

Check fluid levels and top up as necessary.

Conduct safety inspections to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.

3. Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities.

Document parts used, labor hours, and other relevant information for billing and reporting purposes.

Complete service and repair reports according to established procedures.

4. Communication:

Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and customers regarding repair status, timelines, and recommendations.

Provide technical advice and guidance to other team members as needed.

Address customer concerns and inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.

5. Safety and Compliance:

Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines when working with tools, equipment, and hazardous materials.

Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and manufacturer specifications.

Follow proper procedures for the disposal of waste materials and hazardous substances.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational or technical training program in diesel mechanics is preferred.

Previous experience as a truck mechanic or in a related field.

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.

Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other truck components.

Familiarity with repair manuals, schematics, and technical specifications.

Attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.

Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.

Valid driver's license and clean driving record may be required.
