Construction Estimator

The Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating the cost of construction projects, focusing on site development, roadwork drainage and utilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction, excellent mathematical skills, and an understanding of the specific requirements and challenges of site development and utility work.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects.

Bid Preparation: Review project plans and specifications, collaborate to develop competitive and comprehensive bids.

Quantity Takeoffs: Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from construction drawings to determine the materials and labor needed.

Project Analysis: Assess project risks, site conditions, and other external factors that may affect project costs and timelines.

Cost Analysis & Value Engineering: Evaluate alternative methods and materials to provide the best value solutions.

Maintain Records: Keep accurate records of bid proposals, change orders, and project documentation.

Communication: Maintain communication with clients, engineers, architects, subs, and internal teams.

Site Visits: Attend pre-bid meetings, visit site to gather information for estimates and verify existing conditions.

Qualifications:

Education: Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred), or equivalent experience.

Experience: 3+ years of experience in estimating for site development, civil construction, or utility work.

Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in estimating software (e.g., BlueBeam) MS Excel, and other project management tools.

Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of site development, underground utilities, and road construction.

Attention to Detail: Ability to analyze project specifications and documents to accurately.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written skills for interacting with clients, contractors, and internal teams.

Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify cost-effective solutions and potential challenges.

Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
