Job Overview:
The Host/Hostess at Saga Hibachi Steakhouse and Sushi Bar is the first point of contact for guests, providing a warm welcome and creating a positive dining experience. They manage reservations, seat guests promptly, handle wait times, and support the overall flow of the restaurant, ensuring guests feel valued and comfortable from the moment they enter.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Reception & Seating:
Greet guests with a friendly, courteous demeanor.
Manage reservations and seating arrangements, balancing guest preferences and table availability.
Escort guests to their tables, ensuring any special requests or accessibility needs are accommodated.
Reservation & Waitlist Management:
Efficiently manage the reservation system, adjusting as necessary to maintain flow.
Inform guests of estimated wait times and ensure they’re kept updated.
Organize and prioritize reservations to maximize seating capacity while maintaining the quality of service.
Communication & Coordination:
Work closely with the servers, kitchen, and management to ensure smooth service.
Relay guest preferences, allergies, or special requests to the appropriate staff.
Update the floor plan and seating chart, keeping track of open, occupied, and reserved tables.
Maintaining Cleanliness & Organization:
Keep the entrance, lobby, and host stand neat and inviting.
Perform occasional light cleaning or organizing to maintain a polished appearance.
Customer Service & Problem Solving:
Answer guests’ questions about menu items, hours, and services.
Address concerns or complaints with a polite and proactive approach, seeking manager assistance if needed.
Help maintain a positive atmosphere by engaging with guests, particularly if there is a wait.
Check-Out Support (if applicable):
May assist in handling payments or answering questions about the check.
Qualifications:
Customer Service Skills: Friendly, approachable, with strong verbal communication abilities.
