We are expanding our Afterschool program located in the Auburndale neighborhood of Newton, this Fall and interviewing new team members. Candidates should have experience teaching/leading/instructing K-5th grade children (current or former child care professionals, elementary teachers, classroom assistants, teachers of visually impaired, crafts persons, special education teachers/aides, behavioral specialists, physical education teachers, coaches, camp instructors, dancers, classroom assistants, etc.).
In addition to general afterschool teacher duties, our team member will be responsible for planning and leading up to (6) one hour activities per week for groups of approx. 13-15 children (ex. gym games, coaching, STEAM activities/experiments, dance, music, sports, board games, photography, scrapbooking, and/or crafts, etc).
Elementary teacher certification NOT required.
Ideally, we are searching for a M-F afterschool teacher, approximately 20-23 hours per week (plus paid professional development). Our program generally follows Newton, MA Public Schools' calendar. This position comes with paid holidays, leave, and vacation, orientation (orientation commences one week before the first day of school), and activity planning time; generous program-paid health care contribution.
Schedule: M, W, TH, F 2:30-6:00pm, TUES noon-6:00pm (candidate must be available for at least one Tuesday morning per month for staff meetings).
Four early release THURSDAYS noon-6:00pm, two early release WED noon-6:00pm. Day before Thanksgiving 11:30-2:30pm, and last day of school 11:30am-3:00pm.
Approx. $19.00-$22.00/HR.
Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care requirements will also be necessary (Criminal record check, fingerprinting, physical, immunizations, etc.)
A reduced weekly schedule could also be considered for a candidate who has similar experience. This position would be on an hourly basis (approximately $19.00-$22.00/hour) with no benefits. Work days would be either 2, 3, or 4, and the weekly hours would be less than 20.
