COUNTER POSITION AT BLACKBIRD DOUGHNUTS JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports to: Blackbird Retail Manager

Status: Non-exempt, Regular Hourly, “At Will” Work Status

COUNTER POSITION AT BLACKBIRD DOUGHNUTS |

A Blackbird Doughnuts counter staff member is responsible for welcoming and assisting guests with their orders. You will be using our POS, pulling doughnuts from the bakery racks, placing them in branded bags or boxes, preparing coffee + Tea, and genuinely interacting with each guest that enters our space, building relationships and encouraging repeat business. If you choose to work at our South End or Harvard Square location you will also be responsible for selling packing and sandwiches from our sister shop, Sally’s Sandwiches. Our Newton and Beacon Hill locations have beautiful espresso machines that you will be professionally trained in.

POSITION DETAILS |

- Part-time position with one guaranteed weekly shift: Mondays 1:15pm-6:30pm

- Additional shifts will be on-call and dependent on staff vacation, holidays, and sick call-outs

- Cross-training at multiple store locations with priority for open shifts

- Seven (7) guaranteed shifts in January (first 3 weekends, Friday-Sunday)

- Potential for additional weekend shifts in December

WHAT YOU'LL DO |

- Welcome customers with a warm smile and assist them in selecting their favorite doughnuts, beverages, and treats.

- Operate the point-of-sale system efficiently and accurately.

- Maintain cleanliness and organization at the counter and in the dining area.

- Restock inventory and ensure displays are inviting and fully stocked.

- Provide exceptional service to ensure every guest leaves happy and satisfied.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR |

- A positive attitude and a love for interacting with people.

- Reliability and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

- A very flexible schedule to accommodate changing needs as scheduling can change quickly.

- Availability to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays.

- No experience necessary—training is provided!

COMPENSATION |

- Minimum hourly rate of $15 per hour + tips (average $21-$26 per hour)

- Paid sick time for all employees - 40 hours per year after 90 days

- Paid vacation for full time employees after 1 year of employment

- Health (PPO or HMO), vision, and dental insurance available for full-time employees

50% employer contribution
