About Mighty Squirrel Brewing Co.
Mighty Squirrel was founded by friends and home-brewers Henry Manice and Naveen Pawar in 2015 and has since expanded distribution of its beers across the Northeast through its distribution partners. In December 2018 we launched our first brick and mortar brewery and taproom in Waltham where customers can view the entire brewing process start to finish. We opened a new brewery in the Fenway neighborhood in March 2024, and it has a full kitchen. Our menu currently focuses on pizzas, salads, and tacos, and we plan to continuously and consistently evolve our food menu offerings. Overview of the Position
We are seeking a fun, motivated, self-starting, open-minded, passionate, and creative Kitchen Manager to lead our culinary team. This person will organize, lead, and supervise kitchen operations to ensure meals come out smoothly and efficiently and must possess 5-star customer service etiquette. The ideal candidate has a love for food, a willingness to embrace new ideas from team members, and a dedication to maintaining the highest standards of quality and cleanliness. The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for hiring, training, and coaching kitchen staff and for ensuring a healthy, interesting, and fun work environment for employees. Two of its key responsibilities will be training staff on how to deliver an exceptional guest experience and ensuring standard operating procedures are created and followed. Leading by example is a must. The ideal candidate will have management experience and a strong sense of responsibility, be passionate, committed, relentlessly quality-focused, a good listener and a generous mentor and teammate. This position will initially report directly to the Co-Founders.
Job Responsibilities
Develop and refine our menu, which currently focuses on pizzas, salads, and tacos; work towards expanding our menu offering in collaboration with others on the team.
Ensure the highest levels of food quality, consistency, and presentation.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
Ensure all safety protocols are observed in the taproom; train, reinforce, and improve a safety culture and attitude in taproom operations.
Deal swiftly and effectively with all issues that arise with staff and/or customers.
Collaborate with the beer side of our Taproom team to create a cohesive experience for our guests.
Ensure all staff are trained/certified in accordance with all MA and federal regulatory requirements.
Have flexibility to work any kitchen position and shift as necessary.
Must be able and willing to work weekends, daytime, evenings, and holidays.
Inspire and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive and innovative work environment.
Manage inventory, order supplies, and control food costs efficiently.
Manage kitchen staff, payroll and scheduling.
Qualifications
Must be fluent in Spanish and English.
Out of this world communication skills.
Proven experience as a Kitchen Manager or in a similar leadership role in a kitchen.
Exceptional culinary skills, particularly in pizzas, salads, and tacos.
Strong understanding of kitchen hygiene and safety practices.
Ability to work collaboratively and embrace ideas from all team members.
Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
Passion for food and a commitment to excellence.
Confident, respectful, and team-oriented management style.
All candidates must have and maintain an acceptable driving record and pass a preâemployment background check.
