The hotel is a 100 year old historic property that has had extensive retrofitting of systems to meet its contemporary needs. A candidate must have overall understanding and experience working and troubleshooting with a variety of systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical and electronic, (cable, phones, Wi-Fi). The ability to communicate well is important as there is coordination and follow through required with staff in other departments and with outside service providers and vendors. A well groomed appearance and polite manner are essential, as this position involves guest contact.
You would need to be able to work independently and be resourceful. Additional requirements include ensuring exterior areas of the hotel are clean and well maintained, which may include picking up trash, sweeping curbs and hosing off sidewalk areas. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50lbs. Hotel experience is not required, but a minimum of one year maintenance experience in a similar environment is preferred. Scheduling flexibility is required, including working evening shifts, weekends and some holidays. Remuneration is currently set at an entry level rate.
