Position: Medical Assistant
Reporting To: Clinical Nurse Manager
Organization: North Shore Community Health (NSCH)
North Shore Community Health (NSCH) is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support providers during patient visits, managing both administrative and clinical tasks while actively contributing to ongoing process improvements.
Responsibilities
Provide outstanding customer service to all patients and team members.
Screen patients per established protocols (height, weight, vital signs, etc.).
Prepare referral paperwork and provide translation services as needed.
Assist in procedures as outlined in the MA competency checklist.
Manage tasks within the EMR and participate in hospital discharge processes.
Maintain clean and stocked exam rooms, manage inventory, and ensure sterilization.
Answer phone calls and EMR messages and contact patients as necessary.
Schedule patient appointments and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Perform additional duties to support the patient care team as assigned.
Requirements
Graduate of a Medical Assistant program.
Two years of experience in a community-based or ambulatory care setting.
Completion or willingness to complete Basic Life Support (CPR) training.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and be flexible with assignments.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; bilingual (especially in Spanish or Portuguese) is a plus.
Current vaccinations for pertussis and tetanus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with GE Centricity is a plus.
