Seeking a compassionate, adaptive, thick-skinned and experienced PCA/Caregiver/Companion to provide home care, personal support and medical companionship to a 48yo neurodivergent, immune compromised, disabled female. This role determines the autonomy, recovery and quality of life for the patient. Need 1 pers all day 1 day a week (12 hr shift). Day includes running morning errands, making breakfast/lunch/snack, setting up/breaking down shower, cleaning, laundry, Lidocaine patches, drive to MD apt and pool for aquatic PT, taking walk in woods. Taking notes @ MD apts. Evening house chores, cooking dinner, cleaning, ice pack/dip, Rx prep. Need CG who is comfortable w\cats & CPR / first-aid trained. Someone who will make sure the area is safe if I have a seizure or stress response to environ. Willing to pick things up/move things as I need. Must b willing 2 go perfume/scent free (allergies). Any experience with any neurodivergent, brain injury, or seizure disorder please. Want a Companionate, Chill, Outdoorsy person I get along with. Having someone whom has adaptable communication skills or experience working with people whom have unconventional social skills is strongly preferred.
Duties
Assist client with daily living activities such as setting up the shower, ice baths, cooking, cleaning, medication preparation, laundry, grocery shopping, and running errands
Cooking vegetarian, low starch, low/no gluten, soft diet meals
Provide companionship and engage clients in meaningful conversations and activities.
Support clients with all transportation needs, which often require non-local destinations.
Monitor and protect the client at all times for possible impending seizures
Assist in limiting external events which may cause neurological stimulation
Assist with adherence to prescribed health plans.
Taking notes at all medical appointments
Monitor and help the client with activities that require balance control or coordination beyond their abilities
assisting exercises at the gym
Safety monitoring in public spaces which may include women's locker rooms
Help with non-medical activities such as organizing paperwork or gardening
Qualifications
Several years of minimum experience as a PCA or Companion which can be substituted with nursing school, MSW coursework, MSPsych coursework, OR as a special needs teacher
Experience with individuals (Any age) who are neurodivergent or have traumatic/acquired brain injuries
Valid driver's license with an excellent driving record
Reliable vehicle with space for mobility assistance equipment
Experience with medical notes OR meeting minutes
At least 1 year of cumulative experience cooking (this can be with a patient/client) in two or more areas; diabetes, celiac, soft diet, or vegetarian
Ability to perform physical tasks associated with caregiving, including lifting and assisting clients as needed.
Preferential Qualifications
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
CPR/BLS Certification a plus
CBIS Certification strongly preferred
Completion of one or more nutrition/cooking courses in the aforementioned diets a plus.
Adaptive interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with both neruodivergent and neuronormative individuals.
Prefer someone who has experience working with people who have seizure disorders
Must be willing to engage in a perfume-free and ethanol/ethyl alcohol free regimen when around the client
Must be comfortable with pets
Must be willing to do a CORI
Compensation
Compensation is dependent on experience, ranging between 19.50 and 23.00 dollars per hour
Employee will be reimbursed cost of gas while using their car and driving the patient
Hours
Employees can choose Monday, Tuesday or Thursday. 12 -12.5 hour shift late morning to late evening. 1 day a week, which may extend to 1.5 or 2 days a week.
