HR Manager for Dynamic Theater Arts Organization

Join our creative and energetic team as an HR Manager for an expanding theater arts organization that specializes in supporting the creation of new theatrical works! We are seeking a skilled and self-starter, motivated HR professional to oversee all levels of HR management, from individual employee support to strategic system management, as we produce world-class theater festivals and engage a diverse, talented workforce of up to 200 artists. Your position is supported by both a professional employment organization and a staff of experienced accountants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and retention of artists, staff, and contractors for various theater festivals and productions.
- Administer employee benefits, payroll, and compliance with labor laws, ensuring a seamless and positive experience for all team members.
- Develop and maintain HR systems, policies, and procedures that support both short-term and long-term organizational goals.
- Act as a key liaison between artists, staff, and leadership to ensure a collaborative, respectful, and creative work environment.
- Provide hands-on HR support to individual employees and artists, including resolving HR issues, addressing concerns, and fostering an inclusive, supportive culture.
- Oversee performance management, professional development programs, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, union agreements, and health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with leadership to create strategic HR plans that align with the organization's mission and artistic vision.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in human resources management, preferably within the arts, entertainment, or creative sectors.
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and benefits administration.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, creative environment.
- Experience in a leadership role, with the ability to work effectively at all levels of an organization.
