Machine Technician / Operator

Watertown/ Billerica, MA

Pay Rate: $17-20/hr.

7:30am-3:30pm

Machine Operator – Level B is responsible to help support the operational effectiveness of Fiber Production. S/he will operate production equipment, maintain tooling and equipment, transfer consumable materials from inventory to production, assist with training of new and existing team members, and support in special projects as required. The level B machine operator will work directly with the team leader and production manager to ensure operational goals and objectives are either met or exceeded.

Duties and Responsibilities

Operate Production Equipment:

• Install tooling and initiate fiber production when a line needs to be started.

• Enter process information into production computer.

• Load and unload bake out ovens as defined by bake out schedule.

• Run un-spooler as needed

• Operate prep station to ready material for production use

• Operate QC station as needed

• Operate fiber processing equipment

• Operate 3D printers.

• Operate oven equipment and load/unload product

• Operate bag sealer

• Inspect products to ensure highest quality standards are met

• Operate titration equipment when needed

• Monitor all operational equipment, and ensure optimal standards are met.

Maintain Tooling and Equipment:

• Identify areas for improvement and notify Production Manager.

• Perform line upgrades and equipment maintenance as needed.

• Clean and inspect all inserts on a daily basis.

• Gauge all dies on a daily basis.

• Maintain a clean working environment at all times.

• Troubleshoot issues with help of Engineering and Operations team members.

Transfer Consumable Materials from Inventory to Production:

• Clean damaged fiberglass spools

• Dry Kevlar and maintain inventory volume

• Notify shift lead if/when any material issues are observed

• Transfer finished goods into bags/boxes for shipments

• Maintain inventory counts based off of min/max targets

• Education:

o Minimum – High school

o Preferred – 4 year degree in electronics or other technical field

• Specialized knowledge:

o Additive manufacturing (preferred)

o Automated manufacturing equipment (required)

o Vacuum ovens (preferred)

o Electronics

o 3D printing

o Electromechanical skills

• Skills:

o Microsoft Office Suite (required)

o Google Documents (required)

o Verbal/written communication (required)

o Organized (required)

o ERP/MRP (preferred)

o QMS (preferred)

• Professional Certification (preferred):

o OSHA safety

o Supervisory

o Lean manufacturing

o Project management

• Experience:

o 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing or related field

o Safety Systems

o Familiarity with additive manufacturing (preferred)

o Experience working with fiber materials (preferred)

o Experience working with plastics (preferred)
