The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for supporting the Facilities Manager in maintaining and overseeing the day-to-day operations at Tremont Temple Baptist Church (TTBC). This role involves performing handyman, janitorial, and maintenance duties to ensure that the church building and equipment are safe and well-maintained. The position also involves providing excellent customer service to church patrons, resolving conflicts, and ensuring that TTBC’s facilities and events run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Facilities Manager with daily operations, maintenance, and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
Respond to emergencies and complete required documentation.
Handle setup, teardown, and management of events, equipment, and facility use.
Conduct safety inspections, including walkthroughs, headcounts, and door checks.
Manage access control, resolving any access issues for patrons, tour groups, and vendors.
Perform general maintenance tasks such as plastering, painting, carpentry, repairs, cleaning, and floor care.
Provide customer service to members, guests, and callers, answering inquiries and promoting a positive environment.
Enforce facility guidelines, safety protocols, and equipment usage policies.
Attend staff meetings, training, and complete event responsibilities efficiently.
Represent TTBC and uphold its mission and standards.
Skills and Qualifications:
Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays (40-60 hours per week).
Strong communication, time management, and multitasking skills.
Detail-oriented, with problem-solving abilities in fast-paced environments.
Proficient in plaster repair, painting, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC maintenance.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and basic repair tools.
Ability to lift up to 100 lbs, stand for extended periods, and walk multiple flights of stairs.
