Aperture Bio is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Scientist to lead method development in multiplexed cell based imaging assays. This role will join the founders and will directly contribute to the launch of the company’s first product. This position is crucial to the company’s near-term development strategy in the context of product-market fit; success will be measured through the launch of products.

Position Summary: Aperture Bio is seeking a Scientist to join our Boston, MA team to lead method development in multiplexed cell based imaging assays. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, high-level contributor who possesses excellent communication and organizational skills as well as ability to work effectively in a team.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned.

● Lead the development and execution of experimental multiplexed cell based assays (e.g. IHC and immunofluorescent) for a variety of sample types (e.g. FFPE, FF) using multiple methods (e.g. fixed and live cell imaging).

● Familiarity with setting up, running, and maintaining a safe lab environment.

● Proactively identify and troubleshoot bottlenecks in existing workflows, technical challenges in assays, etc. to streamline processes and improve reproducibility.

● Co-lead the planning, improving, and developing of future directions for research and implementation of new technology/innovations.

● Implement evidence-based best practices for data analysis, interpretation, management and presentation ensuring data quality and integrity.

● Develop, draft, and revise protocols and generate documentation for internal and external use as needed. Maintain detailed records (including summary of findings, highlighting impact, conclusions, and next steps, etc.) in electronic lab notebook in a timely manner.

● Prepare and deliver technical reports, tech-transfer documents, and scientific presentations for strategic engagement.

● Prioritize resource allocation and project execution to meet evolving business needs and timelines.

Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree in biochemistry, cell biology, chemistry, molecular biology, or related field and two (2) years laboratory experience / two (2) years postdoctoral experience OR any equivalent combination of experience/education from which comparable knowledge, skills, abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications: The applicant may have experience with a variety of sample types including fine needle aspirates, spheroids, and organoids. Experience with cytometric techniques and analysis (e.g.: FlowJo, Python, R, etc.) is a plus. Additionally, experience with 3D imaging, image analysis and industry best practices for software and tools (e.g. ImageJ, Cell Profiler, Graphpad Prism) is also desirable. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem solving ability and attention to detail. Although the candidate must work well in team settings, they must be able to work independently and meet project timelines. Industry experience is highly desired, including operationalizing a lab and implementing LIMS.

Location and Travel: This position is based at the company headquarters in the greater Boston area and will require occasional travel to conferences.
