We are seeking self-motivated and socially confident individuals to join our team here at New England Petitioning as Petition Circulators. As a Petition Circulator, you will play a crucial role in gathering signatures for various political petitions and initiatives.
This is a seasonal position with a unique schedule. There is no minimum or maximum requirement on the number of hours per week that you can work, or the number of signatures that you gather. You will be compensated for each signature you collect, with compensation varying by project. You can work whenever you want, wherever you want in Massachusetts. One week you could work 30 hours in Framingham. The next week you could work 10 hours in Fall River, and then you could do 70 hours in Boston. It's totally up to you.
Responsibilities:
- Travel to a public high-traffic area (outside of supermarkets, public libraries, etc.)
- Collect signatures from eligible individuals who support the cause
- Maintain and report accurate daily records of signatures collected
- Utilize effective communication skills to engage with diverse individuals
- Maintain basic knowledge of the petition's objective to answer any questions or concerns the public may have
- Navigate bureaucratic regulations regarding format of signatures collected
Qualifications:
- Reliable transportation to and from petitioning spots and for weekly signature exchanges
- Previous experience in soliciting, sales, or the gig economy is preferred
- Basic knowledge of statewide and federal politics
- Ability to thoroughly explain the objective of the petition
- Ability to self-motivate and work independently
- Thick skin; ability to handle slight social rejection
- Clear speech; strong verbal communication
