Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming chemical shipments against packing lists and purchase orders.
- Safely handle, store, and transfer chemicals according to company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Accurately label, package, and prepare chemicals for internal use or external shipment.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using warehouse management systems (WMS) or ERP software.
- Monitor shelf life and ensure proper rotation of stock (FIFO system).
- Conduct regular inspections for spills, leaks, or damaged containers; report and respond to incidents promptly.
- Operate forklifts, drum handlers, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and company policies regarding hazardous materials.
- Participate in regular safety training and emergency response drills.
- Assist in periodic audits and support other warehouse or logistics activities as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; additional training in hazardous materials handling preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in a warehouse, preferably handling chemicals or hazardous materials.
- Knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS/SDS), chemical labeling systems (e.g., GHS), and proper PPE usage.
- Forklift certification and experience preferred.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory systems.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to chemicals, fumes, and loud machinery—PPE is required.
- Work may involve indoor and outdoor conditions, depending on facility layout.
- Regular physical activity, including lifting, bending, and climbing ladders or stairs.
