Position Summary

Boston BoatWorks LLC's service department is seeking a skilled and versatile Marine Mechanic to join our team. As a Marine Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing various tasks related to marine systems, and engines. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and repair of marine vessels and equipment.

Primary Responsibilities:

Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on marine engines (inboard and outboard) / drives.

Assist with general marine yard tasks, including vessel lifting, launching, hauling, and storage.

Collaborate with purchasing to order parts needed for specific projects.

Keep accurate records of work performed, including documentation of repairs, parts used, and time spent.

Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Other Responsibilities:

Additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor. Responsibilities will vary given the seasonality of the service department’s work.

cleaning off boats as required.

Assist the production team with installation, troubleshooting and repairs as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Proficient with Volvo, and Yanmar diesel engines. Including IPS and Outdrives

Proficient in outboard maintenance, trouble-shooting and repair.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.

Ability to handle physically demanding tasks and work in various weather conditions.

Ability to work onsite at Boston BoatWorks

A Valid driver's license to perform service repairs off-site.

Relevant certifications or trade qualifications are a plus.

Physical Demands/Conditions:

Marine Mechanics in the service department may work in a garage or outside and are exposed to extreme weather including heat, cold, rain, snow and wind.

This position also requires regular lifting, climbing, bending, crouching, crawling, twisting.

The employee must be able to hear and communicate with others.

Supervisory Scope: None

Compensation: Starting rate of $25.00 - $35.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
