Position: Small Engine Mechanic to repair lawnmowers and other landscaping equipment

We are looking for individuals with strong mechanical skills that can be applied to the service and repair of small engine power equipment with training from our staff. This includes lawnmowers, snowblowers, chainsaws, leaf blowers, generators and other equipment with 4-cycle engines.
Individuals will be responsible for performing routine service and assembly on quality power and lawn equipment from brands like Honda, Stihl, Toro and Ariens. This includes diagnosing problems, troubleshooting, rebuilding carburetors, tuning engines and using power tools to assemble equipment. We provide all necessary tools and supplies for technicians to use.
Previous experience working on this type of equipment is preferred, but we are willing to invest time, money and resources into training someone who has the right skills and is passionate about learning a trade. Landscapers and skilled laborers are welcome to apply for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Unbox, assemble, prep and test a variety of new power equipment, including lawnmowers, snowblowers, chainsaws etc. that use gasoline or battery powered motors.
- Provide customers with a simple operating demonstration at time of purchase
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair problems with equipment
- Perform routine maintenance on customers’ equipment
- Disassemble, clean and rebuild engine carburetor
- Adjust and/or install cables
- On lawnmowers: Install new blades
- On chainsaws: Install bar and chain
- On snowblowers: Install belts, scrapers and skids
Requirements:
- An ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience working with small engine power equipment.
- Candidates must be able to lift, push, pull, and move equipment in excess of 50 pounds.
- Must be responsible, punctual and able to communicate clearly with others in a professional manner
- Must pay attention to details and be willing to listen to and follow instructions
- Able to work independently after receiving training
- Able to work a flexible schedule based on seasonal needs
- Interest in developing own skills and knowledge
- Interest in working in an environment committed to providing excellent sales and service experiences
Compensation and Hours:
- PAID TRAINING to qualified individuals
- 40 Hours per week at hourly wage, plus 1.5x Overtime Pay for hours over 40
- Hourly wage varies depending on work experience and ability
- Additional benefits (paid vacations, profit sharing etc.) are available after 9-month review
