MAINTENANCE (Facilities) ASSISTANT aka Handy Person
Living Independently Forever, Inc., LIFE, a community supporting adults with learning-disabilities to live as independently as possible, is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to assist with day to day safety and maintenance of our Hyannis and Mashpee Community and local Group Homes. The position is 25-30 hours per week; M-Fexact hours flexibility.
The ideal candidate will have:
Strong organizational and communication skills and
Broad knowledge of facility maintenance:
basic carpentry (ex: sheetrock repair) and painting
basic electrical and plumbing
basic HVAC knowledge etc.
Ability to work independently
Ability to determine when outside vendors should be utilized and to clearly communicate needs to Director
Ability to assist with landscaping, irrigation systems, snow removal, and assisting director of maintenance in repair of all LIFE vehicles including registrations, inspections and accident repair.
Own tools a plus
Ability to listen to, and patiently work around our amazing learning/developmentally disabled population
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, basic landscaping
Ability to use hand tools and basic power tools
Strong organization and time management skills
Ability to work unsupervised
Ability to interact in a positive manner with staff, individuals, parents, etc.
All LIFE employees must pass a MA CORI, DPPC, Fingerprinting and have an acceptable Driving Record.
