Description We are offering a contract to permanent employment opportunity for a Network Engineer in the Education industry, located in Amherst, Massachusetts. The role involves managing firewalls and VPN infrastructure, ensuring the security and integrity of data center networks. Responsibilities: Overseeing the management of multi-tenant and data center Fortinet firewalls, including policy creation and modification. Designing, configuring, and implementing firewalls to safeguard assets from unauthorized access. Administering the VPN solution, including supervising a migration to a new vendor. Collaborating with other network engineers to create, validate, and debug network configurations. Diagnosing and resolving a wide array of client connectivity issues related to firewalls and VPNs. Developing and enforcing firewall policies in alignment with broader security and network initiatives. Creating detailed technical reports on firewall block lists, device status, hardware/software upgrades, and security incidents. Maintaining perimeter security systems such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and VPN infrastructure. Providing input from a firewall perspective on numerous network projects. Ensuring operations align with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and policies while incorporating change management best practices. Requirements Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar role. Proficiency in Border Gateway Protocol (BGP). Comprehensive knowledge of Computer Hardware. Experience with Configuration Management. Familiarity with Datacenter operations. Expertise in Palo Alto Firewall and Palo Alto Networks. Skilled in using Fortinet Firewalls. Proficiency in working with Juniper technologies including Juniper Networks, Juniper Routers, Juniper SRX, and Juniper Switches. Knowledge of VPN - Virtual Private Network and VPN Technologies. Experience in Network Migration. Proficiency in Firewall administration, Firewall Configuration, Firewall deployment, Firewall Rules, and Firewall Technologies. Understanding of Firewall security best practices.
