Automation Engineer IV

About the RoleThe Automation Engineer IV is responsible for overseeing the discipline at a project level and managing the project discipline budget on simple to complex projects of all sizes. The Automation Engineer IV has a thorough understanding of the development and field implementation of documents through all project phases. The  Engineer is responsible for directing and managing the workflows and execution of design and engineering support staff (Entry-Level to Senior) to meet client expectations and project goals. Core ActivitiesWorks with a Project Manager on proposal development, man-hour planning and project scheduling for the discipline scope of work on large, advanced/complex projects.Identifies and resolves advanced non-compliant existing conditions during site walks and construction field surveys.Develops construction drawing packages and writes construction specifications on advanced and complex projects without oversight.Provides lead and advanced support of construction activities such as RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch list development and construction progress reports.Conducts technical and leadership interviews.Conducts quality checking of documents for advanced complex projects (e.g., technical verification of design calculations and documentation) and drives overall project quality.Provides mentorship to Discipline Engineer I, II, III and IV and/or Designer I, II and IIILeads advanced project system design programming and master planning with support from Senior EngineerLeads a team of discipline staff in the execution of advanced projects discipline design and engineeringCore ActivitiesWorks with a Project Manager on proposal development, man-hour planning and project scheduling for the discipline scope of work on large, advanced/complex projects.Identifies and resolves advanced non-compliant existing conditions during site walks and construction field surveys.Develops construction drawing packages and writes construction specifications on advanced and complex projects without oversight.Provides lead and advanced support of construction activities such as RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch list development and construction progress reports.Conducts technical and leadership interviews.Conducts quality checking of documents for advanced complex projects (e.g., technical verification of design calculations and documentation) and drives overall project quality.Provides mentorship to Discipline Engineer I, II, III and IV and/or Designer I, II and IIILeads advanced project system design programming and master planning with support from Senior EngineerLeads a team of discipline staff in the execution of advanced projects discipline design and engineering 

The expectation is that the Automation Group Leader will spend 10-20% of their time engaged in these management functions and for the remainder or the person’s time they will continue to operate as a team member in the role of Automation Engineer. Responsibilities of a Group Leader:Personalized development planning of staff, both from a technical and soft-skill perspectiveProvide technical guidance for their career planning, reviews, and goal planningWork with Market Team Leader for employee work assignments, matching up staff on projects that align with their goals and/or current skillsets and capabilitiesServe as mentor or identify other mentors to facilitate growth technically and professionally in accordance with a person's unique skillset and passionsAct as an employee advocate by championing on behalf of their staff and playing an active role in their overall fulfillmentHelp identify and develop new leaders and owners
