Are you interested in opening your home and heart to a child in need? Are you willing to learn and understand the Foster Care system? KDC is seeking patient, loving and empathetic families to welcome children in DCF custody into their homes. Responsibilities:
Foster Parent must be available to child during non-school days or sick days.
Participation in all education meetings, treatment plan meetings, and clinical meetings.
Foster Parent and partner (if applicable) will attend 36 hours of pre-service training.
Provider will attend 20 hrs.of additional training per calendar year.
Foster Parent will be available for weekly home visits.
Foster Parent will schedule, secure transportation, and accompany child to all medical and dental visits.
Foster Parent will communicate all nuances of development to social worker.
Foster Parent will request planned respite 2 weeks in advance.
Foster Parent will participate in a yearly performance evaluation.
Foster Parent will complete all required paperwork in a timely and professional manner.
Foster Parent will follow all guidelines as outlined in Foster Parent Responsibilities
Any other requests as deemed appropriate for the care of the child or Foster Parent Guidelines.
Qualifications:
Clean Criminal Record Check for self and all family members through EEC
High School Diploma or GED
Strong Interpersonal Communication Skills
Commitment to family-centered services
Commitment to community-basedsupports to infants and children with developmental disabilities.
At least 18 years of age
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift weight of infant or child.
Travel required.
Telephone use required.
Physicians'clearance
