Network Architect
Location: Quincy, MA (Need Local/ who can relocate)
Duration: 12+ Months Contract, Highly Extendable

Project Description:
TekAck is seeking to hire a Network Architect to join the EOHHS-IT Enterprise Engineering team. The Network Architect is responsible for strategic design and modernization of the enterprise network. The person in this role will have various network technology responsibilities to include planning, change management, quality assurance, performance monitoring, capacity planning, systems engineering, and disaster recovery planning. They shall perform tasks associated with network design and innovation, site visits with service providers, and resolution of complex technical problems associated with switches, routers, LAN/WAN circuits, and wireless networking.

Detailed List of Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manages the planning and design of network hardware and software to ensure continuous, best-in-breed services for up to 23,000 end users at hundreds of locations across the state.
  • Researches and stays abreast of the latest network equipment, including next generation switching, routing, and wireless network components, then recommends the best practices, processes, and solutions available to support end users.
  • Acts as a point person during build outs and moves for network design and implementation.
  • Clearly communicates to the Change Management group any network-related issues or disruptions (planned or unplanned) to minimize user impact.
  • Works collaboratively with internal and external groups in a team environment to improve customer support, speed up project timelines, and share knowledge.
  • Provides timely response and support during scheduled and authorized non-business hours to ensure continuity of network services.
  • Manages a portfolio of initiatives including (but not limited to): network equipment refresh, Wi-Fi, Internet of Things (IoT), network as a service (NaaS), out of band (OOB) access, 4G LTE backup, software-defined WAN (SD-WAN), WAN circuit diversity, DNA Center (DNAC), and SolarWinds monitoring.
  • Utilizes specialized tools to monitor the network and ensure efficiency of system resources.
  • Responds to and resolves highest-level tickets and incidents in accordance with EOHHSIT policies and procedures as they relate to customer support.
  • Reviews customer-requested new capabilities, assesses available options, and writes summary statements for management recommending technology solutions.
  • Supports other IT teams (such as application development, operations, security, etc.) with regards to network infrastructure; duties may include technical meetings with those groups to discuss requirements, alternative solutions, training related to new technologies, etc.

Qualifications: (Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
  • Strong working knowledge of Cisco-based networks and VOIP infrastructure, including Cisco switches, routers, wireless access points, firewalls, analog gateways, and related devices.
  • Proven experience in creating and configuring Local and Wide Area Networks (physical and VLANs).
  • Knowledge of newer Cisco platforms and technologies such as Meraki and DNA Center is highly preferred.
  • Ability to write and implement scripts appropriate for network management.
  • Experience negotiating with IT service providers and resellers, arranging agreements for delivery of goods and services, then monitoring/assuring such delivery.
  • Familiarity with blueprints/architectural drawings and general construction terms; ability to assess proposals documented in this way and assure they will meet requirements.
  • Ability to produce and/or modify existing architectural drawings so as to clearly present technical requirements to landlords and general contractors.
  • Familiarity with business statistics and creation of charts/tables to present information.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft desktop and server operating systems,
  • Active Directory, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Visio; Microsoft Access and Microsoft Project a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with current IT standards and basic security measures/requirements.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle and ability to lift up to 35lbs & push 65Lbs

Education and Certifications:
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or other related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Cisco Certifications: Cisco CCNP or CCIE
