Brockton Law office is seeking an experienced paralegal with criminal law office experience. Must possess a Paralegal certificate.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Drafts correspondence, pleadings, notices and motions.
2. Prepares court filings, including proofreading, cite-checking, and preparation of exhibits and appendices.
3. Prepares various legal documents including basic motions for appearances, continuances, etc.
4. Reviews and maintains documents and transcripts.
5. Assists attorneys in all aspects of pre-trial, trial, and appellate litigation.
6. Address client inquiries in a timely and effective manner.
7. Assist with other tasks and projects as requested or needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Minimum of two years of paralegal experience in a criminal law office. Civil experience helpful, but criminal law office experience in the courts of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is a must.
2. A paralegal certificate is a prerequisite to consideration for the position.
3. Proficient in Microsoft Word. Experience with Westlaw a plus.
4. Familiarity with CPCS protocols and procedures.
5. Excellent project management skills, including being well-organized and able to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
7. Professional attitude, reliable and strong work ethic.
8. Able to work independently as well as in a team environment, including the ability to build collaborative working relationships with other paralegals, attorneys and staff.
