Job Summary
KGR Tax & Accounting is moving to a larger office in Southwick and is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Professional to join our team. This role involves preparing complex tax returns and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and standards.
Duties
Prepare and review individual, corporate, partnership, estate, and trust tax returns with accuracy and compliance.
Collect and analyze client financial records and documentation
Enter data into Drake Tax and review for accuracy
Identify deductions, credits, and ensure compliance with tax laws for clients
Meet deadlines, manage multiple returns, and maintain confidentiality of client information
Must complete continuing education requirement and meet all other IRS and applicable state requirements
Experience
Experience completing complex returns (individual, trust, partnership)
Experience working in a fast-paced environment
Experience and skilled in technology (specifically CRM programs, such as Thryv)
Inspire confidence in our clients with your ability to communicate complex tax situations concisely via phone, email, chat, and face to face
Experience utilizing effective customer service techniques
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Availability to work a minimum of 30 hours a week during peak tax season
Skill in researching information using various tax and publication tools to understand the client’s need (i.e., IRS Publications/Instructions)
Experience with Drake Tax software would be ideal but not required
Experience with tax planning and audit support
Qualifications
High school diploma / equivalent or higher
5+ years of experience tax returns
Would be ideal if you had a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
CPA or Enrolled Agent certification
Strong understanding of federal and state tax laws, regulations, and deadlines
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently
Must be eligible for W-2 employment (not purely contract/freelance)
Preference given to candidates who can commit for the full tax season
A self-motivated attitude and ability to manage your own schedule
Comfort working independently while aligning with firm standards and client quality expectations
A dedication to accuracy, confidentiality, and high-quality client service
Willingness to adapt quickly during the busy tax season and collaborate with the team when needed
