Provide assistance and safety for adaptive water and land-based recreation programs at various state parks in Massachusetts.
Monday - Friday, variable hours, roughly 9am-5pm.
Recreation Assistants support adaptive paddling and cycling programs in parks across the state. Duties include transporting equipment via state truck and trailer, carrying equipment, registering participants, and providing physical and interactive support to program participants during activities. Assembly, delivery, and service visits of beach wheelchairs at state parks are also part of each work week. Prior experience working with people with disabilities and/or with outdoor recreation especially helpful. Training provided. Travel reimbursement for use of personal vehicle on some days.
Candidates must be 18 years or older and have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation state-wide.
Current First Aid and CPR certification helpful.
