Ground floor opportunity, the Outlook Farm Winery and Brewery in Westhampton, MA is a growing 7+ year-old operation affiliated with Outlook Farm Store and restaurant. The brewery includes a 3-bbl brewhouse, with manual labeling and canning systems. The hard cider operation is our fastest growing area made from our own apple and fruit crops, providing a set of seasonal offerings and flavors that have a solid and growing following. All of our products are available for on-site sales, with growing deliveries to local retail and restaurant accounts. In addition, we open an outdoor weekend taproom from May-November, with live music, events, tastings and parings promoted through Instagram, Facebook, and our website and online store. This is a ground floor growth opportunity, and we are seeking a motivated, self-starter with experience in the brewery, and/or hard cider making business, preferably with knowledge and experience in taproom and restaurant management.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as we step up to new events, opportunities, and product launches headed into the 2024 season. The Assistant Brewer and Cidermaker has experience working in a brewery or cider making operation, has an intimate knowledge of fermentation, handling and processing of craft ale, and/or hard cider, and will be primarily responsible for all support activities for the production and sales of our offerings. This will include canning and bottling, labeling and packaging, racking, filtration, kegging and transfers, cleaning and sanitizing. Depending on knowledge and experience, responsibilities will further include aspects of brewing and fermentation processes for our products. This will include brew runs, making sure all brew recipes are performed to specification accurately and efficiently according to documented procedures and schedule. This work will mainly include brewing, CIP’s, SIP’s, and yeast management. As part of our small brewing team you will have the opportunity to learn or hone your skills in all aspects of operating the brewery including brewing on the 3bbl brewhouse, managing yeast and developing products from concept to larger scale production. For the hard cider making, responsibilities include understanding and following documented procedures for pre and post fermentation, transfers, racking, filtering, and treatment to optimize balance, flavor, and stability of our various products. Additional, this position offers the opportunity to contribute to new product development and conceptualization of seasonal ciders, and craft ales, with the opportunity to establish new labels and work with outside contract brewing operations for specified offerings. Hours will vary depending on staffing, production, and delivery needs, but generally follow either a 8-5pm shift weekdays, with some weekend times primariy at tap[room seasonal events.

REQUIREMENTS

3+ years experience working in a brewery or hard cider making

Strong focus and attention to detail

Strong understanding on the importance of cleaning, sanitization, and organization

Ability to juggle multiple tasks with efficiency

Ability to lift 50+ lbs

Experience working with pressurized carbonation tanks, kegging, and transferring between kegs

Comfortable engaging the public at the backyard taproom, festivals, tastings, and brewfests
