Electrician

The Williston Northampton School, an independent co-educational boarding and day school located in Easthampton, MA, has an opening for a full-time, calendar-year Electrician. Monday – Friday with occasional overtime/weekend hours for special events coverage.

Responsible for, but not limited to: the overall responsibility for the preventative and reactive maintenance of electrical systems and equipment on campus; installing and repairing electrical systems and equipment as needed to maintain and improve school facilities; troubleshoots problems and repairs electrical problems on school property as assigned; completes applications for electrical permits, and follow up with electrical inspector for project sign-off; working on systems from low voltage phone/data/building automation/electronic locks/control systems through standard line voltage and up to 480 Volt systems and equipment in buildings from sheds to residential to medium/large institutional; formulates and communicates proposals for electrical aspects of potential construction projects that enhance, improve and/or renovate any campus property or area.

The successful candidate must: have a Massachusetts Journeyman’s Electricians License. Experience in an educational setting is a plus; have a minimum of 5 years’ experience installing and maintaining electrical systems and devices, and be able to work intuitively and independently as well as part of the Facilities Management team; have strong organizational skills for multi-tasking and prioritizing responsibilities as situations arise in fast paced environment; have the ability to understand written and oral instruction; have excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to successfully interact with diverse staff, faculty, students and other constituents of the School; be capable of performing repetitive tasks such as, bending, lifting (up to 50lbs.), pushing, stair climbing; be able to work in secondary boarding school atmosphere by successfully passing CORI, SORI and fingerprint based background checks; possess a valid driver’s license and be able to successfully pass a post offer employment physical.
