We are a National Trucking company with roots here in Springfield and we are looking for a quality minded responsible team player to work the night shift as a trucking Dispatcher & Night driver manager.
The Dispatcher is responsible to optimize daily truck activity while communicating directly with our Drivers and Operations management. A core function is ensuring all dispatch data in our TMW operating system is kept updated and accurate real time. Timely, accurate and effective communication is a critical function of the role, either by pushing electronic messages to their assigned Drivers and/or by phone. Other primary contacts will be with the our Safety team and Terminal Managers. Record keeping and date entry required.
Responsibilities:
Plan daily load activity and assign work for a 60+ fleet of Class A Drivers
Coordinate with Customer Service ensuring customer loading and delivery demands are met
Address problems and requests via phone and electronic messaging
Proficient use of our TMW operating system to assign activity and push out communications
Monitor the route and status of trucks to coordinate and prioritize their schedule
Be a continual source of real time info about orders, traffic, obstacles and requirements
Data entry - maintain dispatch records, load activity and other information
Interact with Drivers in a positive and professional manner as an advocate and coach
Monitor Drivers’ available hours of service and adjust dispatch instructions accordingly
Promote safety, compliance and productivity as a coach, counselor, mentor
Be a team player aiding field operations and other departments as needed
Willingness to accept other duties as may be assigned
Requirements:
Experience in Dispatch
Highschool diploma or equivalent, associates or bachelor’s degree preferred
2+ years of dispatching, or similar experience within the trucking / transportation industry
Knowledge of State & Federal regulations including but not limited to hours of service
Excellent communications skills - with considerable time spent on phones and email
Effective analytical and decision-making skills
Able to work well in a fast-paced environment with strong time management skills including
The role will require multi-tasking and the ability to effectively resolve conflicts
Have the flexibility to fill in for other Disptchers when on vacation
Proficient using various programs - Outlook, MS Word, Excel - knowledge of TMW a big plus
