1st-2nd grade assistant classroom teacher in nature-based independent elementary school, The Village School in Royalston MA, for September 2019. Assistant teacher will work under the guidance of the classroom teacher, helping small groups in a combined 1st and 2nd classroom in beginning reading, writing and other subjects. Looking for a kind, quiet, patient yet firm individual who connects well with children. Required: Bachelors or more in Education. Preferred: 2+ years experience teaching in early elementary, training in various learn-to-read programs, familiarity with phonics work, familiarity with Responsive Classroom. Needs to be in good physical shape to be outdoors with children, join in hiking, etc. This position could be half-time to full-time, depending on the needs of the individual.
