Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital in Westborough, a Long Term Acute Care Hospital, is seeking a Part Time Activities Director. This is an interesting and unique opportunity to be part of the team for the 19 bed TCU located within Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital at Westborough!

We offer a competitive salary range - from $19.40‐$23.30/hour - and an excellent benefits package, including 401K.

Part time, 28 hours - flexible schedule, NO WEEKENDS

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plans, schedules and implements therapeutic recreation program of individual and group activities based on residents’ needs, abilities and interests.

Completes the activity component of the resident assessment within the time period required by state regulations for new admissions annually.

Acts as an active member of the multi-disciplinary team and all related resident care conferences.

Takes part in in-service education and attends all in-service sessions relating to the Activity Program.

Observes infection contraol procedures related to the Activity Program.

Responsible for the safety of residents under his/her supervision.

Accpts assigned duties in a cooperative manner.

Develops multidimensional programs to include social, spiritual, physical, emotional, expressive, cultural, and therapeutic activities.

Schedules the overall Activity Program in advance. Regularly posts and distributes an Activity Schedule ensuring access to residents, family, staff, and friends in accordance with State Regulations and facility procedure.

Supports and encourages independent activity and pursuits, both individually and in small groups.

Communicates with families as necessary and offers opportunities for them to share diverse, cultural and educational experiences with the resident.

May assume responsibility for publishing activities newsletter.

PREREQUISITES:

High School diplomarequired; BS in recreational therapy or related field preferred.

At least 2 years experience working with the elderly.

At least 1 year experience in Elderly Recreation Program or successful completion of the Activities Director’s Basic Course.
