Responsible for managing farm operations, pruning, spraying and harvesting of the apples and various other crops. Tractor work is also included in this position and previous tractor experience is required, although additional training will be provided. Responsible for assuring that farm equipment is in good working order. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and climb ladders. Must assist with all aspects of production including harvesting and wholesale sales. The ideal candidate for this job will be hard working, reliable, and have experience managing and working with others. Previous experience in apple orchard farming is also required. Pay dependent on experience.
The position reports to the Board of Directors of the Friends of Sholan Farms.
Sholan Farms Orchard Manager Successful candidate must possess strong organization, customer service, and communication skills. Weekly schedule varies and includes weekday, and weekend hours. Successful candidate will undergo a criminal background, and DMV check. Valid driver’s license required.
Duties for this position include assisting the Volunteer Staff in the daily operations of Sholan Farms. Works independently to develop and coordinate pruning of trees and harvest of the apples and other crops. Define, negotiate, establish, and nurture new retail/wholesale markets.
