Hardwick Post and Beam is a small business in Hardwick Massachusetts that specializes in the custom fabrication of hand cut timber frame buildings and we are looking to add another member to our team!

A Timber framer at Hardwick Post & Beam has good wood working skills and is involved in the fabrication and installation of timber frame projects from start to finish. A high standard of craftsmanship and attention to detail is essential. The timber framer also has good communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively on teams, a strong work ethic, and an optimistic attitude. Curiosity and excitement at learning new things and creative interest in the aesthetic potential of timber framing are assets.

Working Conditions

Eighty percent of time is spent working at the shop; twenty percent at job sites.

Frame installations periodically require travel away from home for a week or less

All workers use appropriate safety equipment in the shop and on the job site.

Key Job Functions

Reading shop drawings.

Layout and cutting of joinery with high accuracy and reasonable efficiency.

Participating in timber frame raisings on client sites.

Knowledge and Qualifications

Proficiency with basic hand and power tools, drills, saws, and chisels.

Applicable arithmetic skills and aptitude for understanding spatial relationships.

The ability to learn to new concepts and new physical skills.

Valid driver’s license required.

Physical Abilities and Skills

Be able to perform physically demanding work consistently.

Have the capacity to lift and manipulate objects of up to 60 lbs. for 50 feet.

Climb ladders and work at heights of up to 30 feet.
