St. Bernard’s High School is hiring for a year-round, full-time, salaried Facilities Manager. As a critical part of our administrative team, this Facilities Manager contributes to the daily maintenance and care and well as the long-term upkeep of our beautiful, century-old main building as well as the off-site Activity Center and its facilities which include outbuildings.

The Facilities Manager oversees all aspects of building functions and guarantees the safety and functionality of all facilities. Duties include running routine maintenance and cleaning, safety inspections, corresponding with contractors, planning maintenance work, and maintaining records. The Facilities Manager is well-versed in facilities management processes and exhibits high multitasking and organizational abilities. He or she is pro-active and team-oriented and the condition and safety of the St. Bernard’s facilities.

JOB DUTIES

The essential functions of this position include the following:

-Works closely with Principal and Board of Trustees to identify and oversees all critical facilities projects

-With school and board leadership, prepares and implements project budgets and timeframes

-Manages and acts as the primary contact for all maintenance contracts for facilities, including contracted plowing, mowing, electrical, and plumbing work; escalates vendor issues as needed.

-Monitors interior and exterior areas of building for cleanliness and upkeep; takes steps to ensure the best appearance of the properties

-Complies with all health and safety policies and procedures

-Cleans common areas daily, including bathrooms, faculty room, hallways, and cafeteria

-Attends to all simple maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, clearing drains, painting, starting boiler, light shoveling, etc.

-Schedules and oversees all appropriate building inspections

-Identifies and oversees preventative maintenance of all equipment

-Identifies opportunities to increase efficiency and decrease expenses where possible

-Oversees facility preparation for large events such as open houses and alumni events

-Plans and completes identified improvement projects during school breaks including painting, floor buffing, ceiling tile replacement, closet cleaning, blind replacement, etc.

-Contributes positively to the inclusive and collaborative culture fostered at St. Bernard’s High School

REQUIREMENTS

-High school diploma

-Five or more years’ custodial and/or facilities management experience

-Mechanical and plumbing skills

-Knowledge of HVAC and other building systems

-Ability to lift heavy objects and do other labor-intensive tasks

-Excellent time management and multitasking skills

-Basic understanding of accounting and finance principles

-Completion of background check s including CORI and SORI and MA fingerprinting

-Ability to perform physical tasks associated with building maintenance
