Grant Writer for Land Conservation Trust

About the Position:

The Harvard Conservation Trust (“HCT”) is seeking a skilled and experienced Grant Writer to join our team and support fundraising efforts. You will play a crucial role in securing funding from foundations and government agencies to support our land protection, land stewardship and community engagement initiatives. You will be responsible for researching grant opportunities, writing compelling grant proposals, and managing the grant application process from start to finish. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in grant writing, excellent communication skills, and a passion for environmental conservation. The position reports to the Officers of the Board of Trustees and works most closely with HCT’s Stewardship, Outreach and Development Committees. This is a part-time position.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with HCT Committee chairpersons to identify funding needs and priorities.

Work with community partners to develop joint proposals.

Research grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other funding sources.

Write persuasive and well-researched grant proposals and grant applications; HCT Trustees can offer scientific and environmental conservation expertise to support your efforts.

Develop budgets and financial narratives for grant proposals.

Manage grant reporting requirements and ensure compliance with grant terms and conditions.

Help HCT Officers stay informed about trends and best practices in grant writing and fundraising.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate has similar experience within a non-profit or for-profit environment, strong written and verbal communication skills, Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., English, Communications, Environmental Studies).

Proven track record of successful grant writing and fundraising experience.

Strong research skills and attention to detail.

Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Proficient in use of Microsoft Office, and CRM systems.

Experience or a degree in natural resources management, forestry, environmental conservation, or other related areas is a plus but not required!

Location, Compensation and Hours: This is a remote, part-time position. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
