Bachelor's degree in computer science or a concentration in a technical field or equivalent experience
5 years?of experience in developing Microsoft SQL database applications
Strong understanding of database design/architecture in a Microsoft SQL Server environment
Basic database administration operations experience in a Microsoft SQL Server environment
Deep knowledge of Transact-SQL
Deep understanding of SQL Server as a developer
Experience with data modeling, query design and optimization, stored procedures, functions and scripting
Knowledge of computer hardware, including networks and storage devices (SANS)
Ability to understand large data models quickly
Strong ability to work with and provide technical leadership to other team members
Experience creating SSIS packages for data integration
Knowledge related to computer hardware, including networks and storage devices (SANS)
Familiarity with CI/CD process and DevOps methodology
Cloud application development experience in AWS or Azure preferred
Experience of web application development in the .Net platform preferred
Knowledge of service-oriented architecture preferred
Knowledge of PowerShell preferred
Job Summary The Database Engineer builds database systems that are high-quality, scalable and high-performance to meet the demands of our rapidly growing and ever-changing environment. Their focus is enforcing our database design best practices, protecting our data and supporting the production environment.
Responsibilities
Ensure quality data creation, presentation and data flow across systems
Be responsible for database logical and physical design and performance tuning on queries
Provide data integration solutions across systems
Write complex stored procedures and optimize execution efficiency in a Microsoft SQL Server environment
Support and maintain quality data
Create and enforce standards and best practices for database design and development
Research and evaluate third-party tools to increase development efficiency
Develop database CI/CD solutions and help other teams implement CI/CD solutions
Research database best practices in cloud environments
Document database processes being developed and proof-of-concept results
Keep up with new SQL Server features and up-to-date emerging technologies
Develop an understanding of non-structural database technology
Help business and application teams make decisions about their database solutions with database technical knowledge
Participate in team initiatives and communities
Participate in a regular on-call rotation
