Minimum Qualifications?

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science?or concentration in a technical field, or equivalent experience?
  • 3?years?of?experience in developing Microsoft SQL database applications?
  • 3 years of experience with database design/architecture in a Microsoft SQL Server environment?
  • 3 years of experience with basic database administration operations experience in a Microsoft SQL Server environment?
  • 3 years of experience with data modeling, query design and optimization?
  • 3 years of?experience with stored procedures, functions, scripting, etc.?
  • 3 years of experience creating SSIS packages for data integration?
  • 3 years of experience working with Transact SQL?
  • Experience with Git/Github?
  • 1 years of experience in working in?the?AWS environment?
  • Knowledge related to computer hardware, including networks and storage devices (SANS)?
  • Ability to understand large data models quickly?
  • Strong?ability to work with and provide technical leadership to other team members?
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook?

Job Summary
The Database Engineer (DBE) is responsible for building database systems that are?secure,?scalable and highly performant?to meet the demands of our rapidly growing and ever-changing environment. This includes all database development from data modeling and query writing to performance tuning in our production environments.?The?DBE works closely with the?application?and architecture teams?to create physical database designs.?They also work closely with the operations team during production?performance tuning to ensure a smooth experience.?They are also responsible for writing?and maintaining?ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).?

The DBE is essential in building the?data?integrations across the dozens of mission critical applications. The DBE is expected to provide support?for our?internal software development teams by either providing database solutions, improving and maintaining existing solutions, or?assisting software engineers as they develop?solutions.?Being able to interact with many different teams as the?resident ?data personand being able to adapt to their workflow is essential for the DBE.?The primary focus of the DBE is?enforcing our database design best practices, protecting our data and supporting the production environment.?

Responsibilities?
  • Ensure quality data creation, presentation and data flow across systems?
  • Create and maintain?logical and physical?database?design
  • Create and maintain stored procedures of varying levels of complexity?
  • Participate in code and design review?
  • Perform proactive performance tuning on queries?and procedures?
  • Create and maintain?data integration solutions across systems?
  • Enforce database best practices and data security?
  • Work with application teams and provide guidance on?choosing?database technologies?and patterns?that?are optimal for?the application?and business?needs
  • Assist development teams with?on-premises?and cloud database solutions
  • Work closely with the database administrators?with?forecasting?storage, disaster recovery and archiving needs?
  • Solve production support issues with a sense of urgency and ownership while maintaining a?high level of calm communication?
  • Research and evaluate new database technologies and third-party tools to increase database efficiency for on-premises?and?cloud?
  • Create automation tools (CI/CD,?unit testing,?IAC,?etc.), processes?and best practices for database technologies?
  • Participates in regular on-call rotation?
  • Champion the company culture?
  • Collaborate and communicate with team members?daily?
