Learn more at:WSU Covid-19 Website (https://wayne.edu/coronavirus)Essential Functions (Job Duties)The Medical Director (MD) provides medical oversight of the Poison Center daily operation and ensures that the medical direction given to the public or health care providers is correct and within the existing national standards or expert consensus. The MD is also intimately involved in education with the toxicology rotation, Medical Toxicology fellowship and Poison Information personnel and provision of out and inpatient toxicology evaluation and treatment through the Toxicology service.Oversee clinical operations of the Poison Center.Maintains staff competency in management of poisoned patients through CME efforts, publications, research, and toxicology meeting attendanceWork to maintain Poison Center national accreditationEnsures timely review and updating of clinical and treatment guidelinesOversee educational operations of the Poison CenterParticipates in collaborative research related to medical toxicologyActs as a research mentor for PCC staff, fellows, and residentsProvide outreach lectures on toxicology to health care professionals throughout the PCC geographic service areaActively participates in education of HCP (health care providers) and Poison Specialists/Poison Information Providers.
