We are seeking a recruit who has some familiarity and comfort level with grinding, and cutting steel on a saw, and general sheet metal fabrication experience.
We need somebody who has a basic knowledge of how to grind, cut steel on a saw, and similar tasks. The candidate doesn’t have to be an expert in these skills. We will train you. However, we also cannot hire anybody who will be starting from scratch with no experience. During the interview you will demonstrate grinding, and cutting to show you are somewhat comfortable with these tasks.
Assets would include experience and some comfort working with a CNC and/or Fusion 360. These aren't job requirements, but a person with those skills would get priority for hiring consideration and pay increase.
Important to the job is a strong sense of pride in craftsmanship.
In addition, we work as a team. We are a very small workshop, so the hiree must be a person who works well with others and has a good, positive attitude.
We can’t hire any candidate that has a problematic back or any physical issue that may prevent them from lifting, because some items we work with will weigh upwards of 40 Lbs. or more. The job is not all about lifting, but some lifting is part of the job description, as we are working with steel.
The artist/owner, Christian Sam, will teach the employee how to make swords and other historical, fantasy, and sci-fi art weaponry.
We need an employee that lives somewhat near the Fraser, Michigan area, with only a half hour or less travel time to our workshop.
Starting pay is $15 per hour for a short probation period, with a raise once we see that the recruit is working well in our shop.
This is a full-time, 40-hours per week position, with opportunities for overtime and bonuses, especially when we are getting ready to be at a show and during shows where we sell our work.
