Busy marina on the Detroit River is looking to hire an experienced Equipment Operator!
The Equipment Operator is responsible for the movement of all vessels located in the facility for haul & launch, designated work, storage or sales.This position is also required to inspect, repair, and maintain all assigned equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment including but not limited to: marine forklifts, travelifts, and hydraulic trailers
- Be able to operate machinery efficiently, effectively and demonstrate safe handling of vessels- Use equipment to move vessels in and out of water, to designated work space, storage or sales areas
- Inspect, maintain and repair equipment to ensure operational
- Perform yard work such as pressure washing, bottom painting, block and stand vessels, and general maintenance as required
- Assist with all yard operations for safety, quality, and efficiency and maintain an organized, clean yard
- Assist with ground maintenance and ensuring overall marina cleanliness
- Available to work overtime when required
- Light mechanic work
- Available for the right candidate
Technical and Physical Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required- 2-3 years’ relevant experience preferred
- Heavy forklift experience and certification required
- Ability to ascend and descend a ladder
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Ability to work in confined spacesAbility to lift 50 pounds- Basic boat handling skills preferred
- Must possess a valid drivers’ license
- Minimum Soft Skills Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service and an understanding of customers’ needs
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills while working both independently and within a team context
- Exhibit excellent judgement- Organizational skills are a must
- Detail oriented and ability to multi task are essential skills

Looking for a Marine Mechanic - Pay up to $35 an hour!
Busy marina looking for hard working Marine Mechanic. This is a full time, year round position with benefits available and includes paid time off.
Job duties to include:
- Inspect, maintain and repair the mechanical and electrical equipment found on boats.
- Troubleshoot and inspect motors to locate defective parts.
- Maintain a boats body and perform maintenance tasks like painting, fiberglass repair and rigging installation.
- Install and test sanitation and refrigeration systems, cabinetry, electrical systems, steering gear and accessories.
- Repair engine equipment such as power tilts, bilge pumps, or power take offs.
- Service marine driveline.
- Diagnose and repair signs of engine malfunctions such as smoke, excessive vibration, or misfiring.
- Operate boat at various speeds on waterways to conduct operational tests.
- Good working knowledge of all ship systems.
- Computer skills and use of diagnostic equipment.
Requirements:
– High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prefer formal training in marine technology or experience in small engine repair.
- Extensive knowledge of the mechanical and electrical ins and outs of various marine vessels.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to perform general physical activities that require heavy lifting, use of your whole body, climbing, lifting, balancing and handling of materials.
- Strong communication skills.
- Problem solving skills a must.
