This includes additional responsibility to identify the application and materials requirements to production release of new materials and processes for printer equipment and applications.What you will be doing:

Analyzes materials and material components to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results.

Determines design approaches and parameters. Analyzes materials and material components to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results.

Completes documentation and procedures for processing, testing and use of materials.

Selects materials for inclusion in products based on analysis of specifications and reliability.

Justify capital investments and select process equipment to support project requirements.

Analyze and execute material property testing to verify the impact of process changes.

Responsible for providing the systems, processes, and leadership to improve Stratasys penetration into new applications, markets, and materials.

Provide innovative solutions to material development and processes.

Develop an understanding of the key material and processing properties that result in successful materials and feedstocks for FDM printers.

Work with Materials Manufacturing to improve processes as required for capacity, cost reduction, quality, and continued improvement.

Develop key supplier and vendor technical relationships for equipment and materials.

Develop and maintain considerable knowledge and understanding of available resources both inside and outside the company that facilitate the completion of work assignments as expected.

Lead, direct, advise, coach, and provide direction for others in the materials development team.

Conduct HAZOP analysis and create safety procedures as needed for a material and/or process.

Must have for this role:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering – chemicals, plastics, materials science or related field

2+ years of related experience in materials and/or process engineering

Expertise in polymer extrusion and compounding including establishing new processes and troubleshooting

Expertise in plastics processing equipment, and ability to specify equipment requirements

Proficient in polymer analysis methods and instruments such as rheology, FT-IR, DSC, TGA, MFI, DMA, GC-MS, etc.

Proficient in plastics properties testing methods and instruments such as melt flow, tensile, moisture, density, etc.

Demonstrated leadership in conducting and analyzing process trials, with detailed reporting on results

Nice to have:

Proficient in the use of CAD

Demonstrated leadership in the scale-up of processes from lab to plant
