Position::4:: Java Developer
Location:Minneapolis, MN
Duration: 6 months to start but as part of a 2 year project.

Kafka, listed below, is a Highly preferred skill, but I'd imagine they'll find 4 candidates who have it. Java version 6-8.

Tech Stack

  • Java (w/dev and designs skills that go with it)
  • Spring Platform
  • OpenShift micro services
  • Kafka communication/messaging
  • No FED or cloud exp needed
  • Billing and payments/commission experience is a plus but not needed
    • Ex ACH transactions

And some additional clarifying info:

Current State
  • Core mainframe apps are getting 20-30 years old
  • Troublesome to support (they're Cobol) and the process of building have given them a lot of business rules and are doing more than they should
  • Pursuing the business rules back to policy systems and control at that level
  • Updating and simplifying billing payment systems and make them able to utilize a 3rd party
  • Showing billing/payment in a more micro service architecture

Initial Project
  • Integration tying systems together, communication of request to bill and receipt of payment
  • Simplify the communication between the systems
  • Have services that allow to work w/external vendors and internally to systems that use the data
  • Work w/design patterns or spec and implement tests, ask questions, engage with the process
  • Integrating from message queues out and exposing externally or internally for systems working on
  • Reintegrating data feeds
  • Following architectural patterns
  • Testing
  • Working with production, delivery and the BAs

Future/Ongoing Work
  • Working to find 3rd party service provider for payments processing (venom, web presence and mobile presence, using services already available as well - might start at beginning of 2021 building out that integration)
  • Integration of backend systems after that and integrating in
